Transparency

Not every school assignment allows the use of GenAI. So, make sure to check how you are allowed to use generative AI for each task. If it is allowed, be transparent and make it clear what information, ideas, or help you got from GenAI.

  • Clearly mention your AI usage to stay transparent. It helps your teacher properly assess your understanding.
  • You could also keep track of how and why you used GenAI, for example, by taking screenshots or keeping a logbook.
  • Always follow the guidelines of your school or institution. In your assignment, explain how you used an AI tool, for instance, by adding a disclaimer at the beginning, including the following details:
    • how you used the AI tool;
    • what prompts or questions you asked;
    • where in your work you used the AI tool.

For example: I used Copilot as a text editor (= how), particularly in paragraphs 4 and 5 of the assignment (= where). I asked it to ‘Check my text for spelling and grammar errors.’ (= prompt)
